Oak Hill Vineyard

Oak Hill Wine, produced by Willow House Vineyard in the centre of the village of Fressingfield, is named after a small woodland once crowning the hill behind the church. The last vestige is an ancient oak overlooking the vines estimated to be over 800 years old. The vineyard was planted in 1987 with 400 vines of the Bacchus variety yielding white wine with an attractive fruity bouquet.

The one acre of vines produces between 1,000 and  3,000 bottles of wine depending on the weather conditions through the Spring and Summer months. In Autumn, the grapes are harvested by a band of volunteers from the village (The Plucky Pickers!) and, if the crop is big enough, three varieties are made at a local winery: Dry, Medium and Oaked.

Oak Hill wine can be bought by the case from the vineyard ; by the bottle from Fressingfield Stores; and also at two Michelin-Awarded restaurants, the Fox & Goose in Fressingfield and the Castle Inn at Bungay. Holiday makers can also stay at Oak Hill Granary by booking through www.suffolkcottageholidays.com. . A chilled bottle of Oak Hill is, of course, a welcome gift on arrival!
