For Charles, the only way was Essex for English wine

The royal couple recently paid a visit to Purleigh in Essex, the home of the county's leading vineyard New Hall Wines to find out for themselves  what is the best in food and drink from that part of Essex.
As the royal couple found out, nothing much beats a glass of New Hall Bacchus paired with oysters from Maldon it is the perfect combination. Darryl Kemp, New Hall's general manager was on hand to talk the Duchess of Cornwall about the  wines from New Hall.

This leading Essex vineyard has had an amazing  year having carried off numerous trophys including winemaker of the year. The royal visit was a great opportunity for this vineyard to show the Duchess of Cornwall, president of the United Kingdon Vineyards Association (UKVA), first hand the range of wines it produces from its delicious sparkling to its signature Bacchus.

Discretion being the greater part of valour, Kemp declined to comment on what wine proved to the favourite with the Duchess.
