Wine GB East Competition 2022

The 2022 competition will be held on Friday 19th August at Giffords Hall Vineyard (Hartest IP29 4EX)

This year we are looking for are looking for a record number of entries! We are excited to announce a great line up of judges and will be presenting a new main sponsor for competition and our Wine GB East website. Tanja Wright as head judge will be joined by food and drink writer and broadcaster Andy Clarke, Sara Thake of Elizabeth Rose wines and James Davies MW.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1) complete the entry form and declaration (link below)
2) send payment via bank transfer
3) send in 4 sample bottles of each wine for judging to the address below

Complete entries and wines must be received by Friday 12th August 2022.

SCHEDULE:

Morning judging of entries
12.45pm onwards – Members and award entrants invited to attend
1pm – 2.30pm – Lunch (please specify choices on the form)
2.45pm Awards presented
3.30 – 4.30pm – Members able to sample competition wines
5pm – 7pm – Open event for Public to sample wines (last entry 6:30pm)

ADDRESS FOR SAMPLES:

Address for the 4 wine samples per entry to: WineGB East Competition c/o Charles Macready, The Leaping Hare Restaurant & Country Store, Wyken Road, Stanton, Bury St Edmunds, IP31 2DW.

Please note, deliveries should not be made on a Monday or Tuesday for risk of not being delivered.

ENTRY FEES:

The 2022 entry fee is £20 (£45 for non-members) per wine entered.

PAYMENT:

Entry Fee per wine is payable by BACS/FPS bank transfer to the following account: Name: EAVA, Account No. 00117894 and Sort code: 30-99-85 (Please quote your vineyard name as the payment reference).

Please note, whilst a full laboratory analysis report is no longer required with submission, the entrant is held responsible for the accuracy of the technical information required below. WineGB East reserves the right to request the full laboratory report from award winners.

AWARDS LUNCH:

Lunch will be available to purchase on the day. There will be the option of a paella, tapas and salad lunch or a picnic box (cheese or charcuterie). Refreshments and cake will also be available to purchase from the café. Please indicate on the form whether you will attend the awards day at Giffords Hall and your preferred choice of lunch in order to estimate numbers for catering.

Chet Valley hosted the awards this year, and the four judges, James Davis MW, Tanja Wright, Jeremy Dunn and Mary Mudd all did a fine job in tasting 54 wines entered from the region.
